Meet Sacred

Meet Sacred

It amazes me how easily I can pick up a conversation out of anywhere. And yet the wonder holds each time I make a new connection.

I will be sitting at a Barnes & Noble cafe, getting the mail, or walking at the park and I’ll meet someone new. Someone I’ve never spoken to before. And we’ll connect over something small. A shared love of French, a fine arts degree, how hard Mondays can be.

And then the moment will deepen as we each share our personal stories. There’s a depth that makes sense for a first meet. Too deep and it’s closer to trauma bonding. Too superficial and the conversation naturally dies out.

It’s a dance. Movement and momentum through conversation and connection. This knowledge that I’ve done this hundreds of times before. Spoken over countless topics and feelings. And yet the magic holds true. Each time.

The knowledge that the other person typically hasn’t had someone listen to them this deeply in some time. Or ever. Focusing your attention on another human being without judgment or attachment. Holding space for one another.

This is the intention of this project. The holding of that sacred space for someone else as they hold it back for you.

The $1 acts to mark the moment and create the freedom to do this process over again all over the world.

I spoke with my 96th connection today and her words echoed the spirit of the project.

“With the right community coming together and supporting each other no one needs to be without the means to survive and ideally thrive.

I’m choosing to share because I like the mission statement and I do believe that true wealth is the ability to support yourself and share with others ultimately improving quality of life of everyone.”

This space of caring and showing that care by listening and sharing resources is the world I believe in. And I’m here to celebrate it.
