The Numbers So Far
I started this journey with the intention of creating momentum and community.
So far I’ve connected with 96 human beings starting with friends and family.
So many of the folks who participated gave more than a dollar, in the spirit of sponsoring someone who was unable to give a dollar, but wished to join. I have an abundance of dollars for sponsorships, $313.25 as a matter of fact, to share with those folks who would like to participate.
I have a friend, another one who loves $2 bills, who shared a beautiful story with me.
When asked for a $1, he would give a $2 bill. Two dollars for the asking of one.
The exchange was a simple one. You ask for what you need and in return you’re given a little more. This gift of giving slightly more strikes me as beautiful. In an age of asking for large things (myself included for the $1 million I aim to reach), you find your way in simple moments and steps. You break the task or dream into achievable goals, like asking for $1 at a time.
This relationship with giving a small portion of a large amount creates a sense of safety and the knowledge that you won’t be approached for another round of giving. Unless you want to give again.
A community is formed, or can be, from this action of giving something small, but precious.
For the 96 people who have supported me so far, I thank you deeply. You saw my vision and cared to help me on my way. That’s the world I want to live in. And I do.
Thank you.
